TED FOUNDATION ADV.

TED Foundation ADV. for Grade 8 is an interdisciplinary STEAM Program integrating concepts from Technology Engineering & Design at an advanced Level. TED Foundation Advanced is a year-long, intensive program tailored for Grade 8 students passionate about technology, engineering, and design. This hands-on, project driven curriculum fuses these disciplines to foster creativity, critical thinking, and real world problem solving. Students explore big thematic units that highlight the connections across STEAM fields through coding projects, lab experiments, engineering challenges, and creative design work, all aimed at building both technical skills and innovative thinking.

Capstone Projects & Portfolio

Every Grade 7 & 8 student graduates with a comprehensive portfolio and ongoing mentorship from middle school through high school. Starting in the Grade 8 Reach Ahead program, Students are paired with dedicated mentors who help identify their strengths, set academic & career goals, & choose projects aligned with
their interests. Each project, internship, or specialization contributes to a dynamic personal portfolio that highlights their skills, creativity, and real-world experience. This portfolio supports success throughout high school & strengthens University/College and scholarship applications, while preparing students for competitive careers in STEAM, design, or athletics. Mentorship is personalized, goal-driven, and designed to help each student stay on track, build confidence, and thrive.

HS REACH AHEAD - GRADE 8

1. Why Choose This Program?
The TED Advanced program is ideal for grade eight students eager to gain advanced skills in technology, design and practical engineering skills. This program provides a foundation in each discipline while encouraging students to innovate and solve complex problems. It prepares students not just for high school level STEAM concepts but also for future careers that demand creativity, technical ability, and strategic thinking
2. Thematic Units:
The HS REACH AHEAD program is structured around major themes such as “Sustainable Cities,” “Automation and Robotics,” “Digital Arts and Media,” and “Environmental Science.” Each theme lasts several weeks and includes projects that require students to integrate knowledge from multiple TED areas
3. Project-Based Learning
Students engage in several major projects throughout the year that require the application of technology, engineering concepts, and design (TED) principles. These projects could include building a programmable robot, designing an eco-friendly home, or developing a new software application.
4. Capstone Project
A capstone project that integrates all elements learned during the year. Students choose a problem to address, conduct research, propose solutions, prototype, and present their findings to the school community and invited industry professionals.
5. Workshops and Technical Skill Building
Hands-on workshops provide students with specific skills such as CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software training, basic electronics, coding, and digital fabrication techniques.

Grade 8 students can earn up to 3 Grade 9 high school credits through the Reach Ahead STEAM program. They can choose from:
TEJ10 – Exploring Computer Technology: An introduction to Computer Science and Digital Systems. CORE Computer Programming like PYTHON, C#
TDJ10 – Exploring Technological Design: Hands on experience with 3D design, including Architecture, Product Design, Mechatronics, and 3D printing.
TGJ10 – Exploring Communication Technology: Creative exploration in 2D/3D Animation, Design.
